Moved Sharon, Brenda that the Arts Council sponsor a Festival of Trees in November with proceeds going to the Senior Advocacy Program of the Kootenay Community Centre Society . Carried
Moved Sharon Brenda that we cover $2000 filming ( boat tours) for Robert Louie Project out of operating funds. Carried

February 19, 2020
Call to order 7:05
1. Adoption of Agenda moved Maureen, seconded Milena. Carried
2. Adoption of minutes of December 18, 2019 moved Sharon, seconded
Anne. Carried
3. Financial report - $2791.65 cash flow position, BC Arts Council award $11,000
Moved Sharon, seconded Kerry acceptance of report. Carried
Moved Karen, Milena that $700 be given to the Footlighters from the Ingham
Fund.
Moved Kerry, seconded Karen that we advertise in the
Creston booklet for $150. Carried
5. Old business
- audit committee
Moved Frank , seconded Carole that this committee be disbanded immediately.
Carried
- wine and cheese - very successful, Frank was surprised to receive his plaque
for outstanding contribution to the arts. We received $500 from Area A which
covered all expenses
- seniors variety show - well received, if we do it again next year, there won’t be
judges, but the first 100 people will get a voting pod and will vote for
people’s choice
- pastel workshop - 12 participants
- youth advisory board - Milena and Brenda met with a couple of girls. They will
be working on the student art walk and the Fashion Trashion show
- telephone - Alison will cancel the phone
- craft fair- Anne will forward participant info so books can be backed up
6. New business
- CKCA adjudication Committee - meet with Ann Jardine, March 19, 2:00
- Canada summer jobs grant submitted
- scarecrow street festival September long weekend
- businesses and organizations are still enthusiastic about setting out
scarecrows and we hope to add an entertainment component
Moved Anne, seconded Brenda that we seek funding for the scarecrow
street festival and the expansion of the scarecrow display and that the street
festival be contingent on receiving funds. Carried
Moved Brenda, seconded Mark that if funding is not available we cut back
and do what has been traditionally done in the past. Carried
- policy - violence in the workplace, Health and Safety, harassment - on website
- employee/ volunteers handbook - will be set up before summer season
- board will be looking at bylaw changes and gift store business plan in the next
few months
- request from Footlighters - have been given $700 from the Ingham fund
- requests to RDCK directors and Town of Creston for operating funds will be
going forward
- future by-law review change of year end to December 31, fees
- upcoming ideas
- murals - Marnie Temple - she hopes to start with one mural behind Casey’s
- Community Forest Company is offering us a plein air opportunity -
in May, gallery showing from Mid August to end of September
- indigenous projects - documentary on Robert Louies life - Marks company will
be filming, Perry will also be working on it, with indigenous producer Jonathan
Brewer. Arts council is facilitating grants and will take admin fee.
- advertising in Creston visitors booklet for $150
- change of meeting times 3 rd Wednesday Library 4:30-6:30
Moved Milena seconded Carole that we move meetings to the library meeting
room at 4:30 on the third Wednesday of the month. Carried
- poetry jam Thursday March 19, 7:00-9:00 Library - Carole, Dennis, Brenda
- Trashion fashion show - theme for focus on youth is “colour” - Brenda and
Frank will meet to work out budget.
- kiosk in disrepair, Moved Frank, Anne that we donate the kiosk to the college.

- financial review committee- Moved Brenda , seconded Kerry that Dennis,
Frank and Theresa be appointed to this committee. ( to review financial
statements at year end, prior to presentation to auditor) carried
- calendar of events will be put on website
7. Members reports
- Footlighters - presenting Star Trak April 16,17,18
- legacy project. - look for funding in 2021 - to preserve artist interviews
- Library - 100 th year, gala September 26, tickets limited to 100
